With Karlo Ilić & Rajko Ergić
The Roberto Magris/Denis Razz Quartet is a jazz
ensemble that brings together Italian pianist
Roberto Magris, an internationally acclaimed
musician, with Croatian saxophonist Denis Razz,
a highly regarded musician in the local
community. The ensemble also includes talented
musicians Karlo Ilić on bass and Rajko Ergić on
drums.
Their album "In Action" is the result of a
musical collaboration that began as an informal
gathering and evolved into a permanent project.
Magris recognized the exceptional talent of
Denis Razz, whose passion and skill span from
bebop to free improvisation.
The quartet stands out for its ability to blend
diverse musical influences, from classic jazz to
avant-garde improvisations, creating a unique
and exciting sound. The album "In Action"
testifies to their musical synergy and passion
for jazz, offering listeners a rich and
emotionally charged musical experience.
The group has received significant recognition
in the US, where their new album is released by
JMood Records, the
Kansas City-based jazz label.
This marks a historic moment, as it is possibly
the first time that Croatian jazz musicians
have recorded an album for an American jazz
label and gained visibility in the US jazz
scene.
You can find more about the album and the
quartet on their dedicated page at
JMood Records.
The album is produced and promoted in the US by
Paul Collins, whose efforts have helped
bring the ensemble to a broader international
audience.
The ensemble benefits from the
multi-instrumental skills of its members,
featuring a diverse
range of instruments, including acoustic and
electric piano, keyboards, Hammond organ,
alto and soprano saxophone, flute, bass, guitar,
oud, drums, and various percussions,
contributing to the richness and versatility of
their sound.

It is not easy for a European jazz artist to establish a notable profile in the United States, but Italian pianist Roberto Magris has done just that, in part via the tried and true "just show up" method of operation. It is necessary to show up with the drive, determination and talent to pull the success off. — All About Jazz
— Jazz & Mo'
